Travel Deal for June 17, 2013
It bills itself as the “toughest event on the planet” and the 1 million people who’ve endured it aren’t likely to argue.
Tough Mudder began in 2010 as an obstacle course inspired by the British Special Forces and the challenges they designed to test recruits. Participants race between 10 and 12 miles (or 16 and 19.3 km) in brutal and grimy conditions all to make the beer at the finish line taste that much better … and to test their strength, endurance, mental toughness, and so on.
The next Canadian stop on the Tough Mudder calendar is this weekend, June 22-23 in Whistler, the adventure sports haven of British Columbia. To give Tough Mudders a completely different slice of life, the luxurious Fairmont Chateau Whistler is offering a special package for the event’s competitors.
Tough Mudder 2013 entrants receive 20% off room rates, as long as reservations are booked three or more days in advance of their stay.
A recent search at this outstanding hotel returned an 800-square-foot, mountain-view room with a king bed and double sofa bed for $704 for the night of June 22.
Ideal for two couples, the suite includes two bathrooms and two TV sets, and a French door that separates the bedroom from the living room with the sofa bed.
The Tough Mudder package is available for stays from June 19-23, 2013.
