Travel Deal for March 30-April 1, 2013
It’s Easter weekend, and chocolate is on the mind. What better way to satiate your cravings than with a guided tour filled with delectable items?
With Toronto’s Tasty Tours, you can enjoy samplings of confections near one of the city’s most popular parks. The Trinity Bellwoods Chocolate Tour includes chocolate tastings from five stores and an education on the history of chocolate.
The tour takes place on alternate Saturdays at 3:30 pm and lasts about 2.5 hours. Patrons will walk about 15 minutes between stops — which is necessary to work off all the sweet goodies.
The tour costs $35 per adult ($15 for kids 7-12; kids under 7 are free).
Find Chocolate Heaven at the Trump Toronto
If your sweet tooth still isn’t satisfied, you’ll want to head to the Trump Toronto, home to the inventive Chocolate Lab headed by renowned pastry chef David Chow. Vacay.ca Managing Editor Adrian Brijbassi recently did a video interview with Chow in the lab and was struck by the tastiness of his treats.
Brijbassi writes: “For a chocolate lover, Chow’s creations are a must taste. They’re hand-dipped and made with Valrhona Grand Cru chocolate, produced in France. Chow and his staff elegantly arrange the pieces on trays that are delivered to the rooms for guests upon check-in. Several pieces adorn the wonderful chocolate cart that is in STOCK, the hotel’s flagship restaurant on its lively 31st floor. The chocolate cart, inspired by managing partner Inna Levitan’s trips to Italian restaurants, is a worthy indulgence. Some pieces cost about $2, an irresistible temptation for someone looking to pop in for dessert.”
