Brookstreet in Ottawa is offering a luxury package starting at $149 per night.

Each one of this hotel’s 276 luxury rooms and suites features original artwork, high-quality linens, cozy duvets, and individual climate control. A 20-minute drive from downtown, Brookstreet is located a short distance from Scotiabank Place, home of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators. Even if the pro hockey players don’t hit the ice this year because of the NHL labour talks, Brookstreet still gives you a reason to venture away from the heart of the nation’s capital.

The hotel offers the chance to enjoy a meal at four-diamond Perspectives Restaurant and unwind at full-service Au Naturel Spa. It also has complimentary WiFi in public areas, underground parking, a championship golf course, and amenities that feature a fitness studio with complete line of cardio and strength equipment, dry saunas, and whirlpools.

Package includes:

  • Spacious four-diamond guestrooms and four-diamond dining
  • Jazz lounge with live music five nights a week
  • Full service spa with couples massage suite Recommends an Ottawa Vacation for a Vegan Surprise Food Columnist Janine MacLean loves meat. And there are lots of great restaurants in Ottawa to choose from like Mill St. Brew Pub and D’Arcy McGee’s Irish Pub that serve delicious dishes for meat lovers.

But that didn’t stop her from putting on her “vegan hat,” and she wrote about her experience in her story “A vegan surprise in Ottawa.”

On a recent trip to Ottawa, MacLean was slightly taken aback when told she had a dinner reservation at ZenKitchen: an entirely vegan, won’t-even-give-you-milk-for-your-coffee restaurant located on the outskirts of Ottawa’s Chinatown district.

MacLean wrote: “Our third course came out, our plates packed to the brim (but prettily) with lemongrass curry over aromatic basmati rice, panko-crusted seitan (made from wheat protein) stuffed with silken tofu “cheese” and topped with a flavourful tomato ragu and ravioli stuffed with pesto “cheese” and served in a mushroom-ancho chili sauce. At this point I was starting to feel full. Who knew vegan food could be so hearty — not to mention (dare I say it) … delicious?
