Travel Deal for October 19-20, 2013
The truffle is a delicacy for diners and chefs. The oil and shavings from this tasty fungus dot dishes at fine-dining restaurants around the world.
Throughout November, one of Canada’s best restaurants features the truffle and a variety of mushrooms on a rotating special tasting menu. Muse in Calgary, which ranked 17th on the Vacay.ca Top 50 Restaurants in Canada List for 2013, will spotlight a six-course tasting menu from chef J.P. Pedhirney that costs $98 per person.
The Truffle Festival, which ends on November 30, celebrates the “diamonds of the kitchen” and promises to fill your appetite for these earthy treats.
Vacay.ca Followers Spotlight Muse
Vacay.ca’s Jody Robbins visited Muse this spring as it was racking up votes from the public, who teamed with 34 judges to name the Top 50 Restaurants in Canada. Robbins found the food delicious and the menu curious.
She writes: “When a restaurant creates buzz in Calgary, it’s natural to think diners are raving about the steak. Not so with Muse. After re-inventing itself earlier this year under new ownership, the restaurant introduced a seasonal menu that features hamachi, sturgeon, duck breast, lamb, porchetta and not one mention of steak. If you’re thinking it takes some brass prairie oysters to only occasionally serve beef in Cowtown, you’re right. The big question is, why?”
