vicky vacay deal of the day

$50 Friday night at Blue Mountain

Travel Deal for October 9, 2013

The fall colours are ablaze in Ontario‘s Blue Mountain region and that means you can spend Thanksgiving weekend enjoying spectacular scenery and sensational savings.

The outdoor sports resort village that is the most popular ski destination in the province is celebrating an unusually warm autumn with a hot holiday savings package.

Blue Mountain‘s three-night package for this Thanksgiving weekend includes a cost of $50 for Friday night. The nightly rates for Saturday and Sunday vary depending on the size of the room and the location of the accommodations you reserve. Guests can book stays at the Blue Mountain Inn, Village, and Mosaic properties, and the offer is valid for studio, bachelor, and one-bedroom suites.

Rooms at this time of year are in the $200-plus range per night.

The package is offered only for stays from Friday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13, 2013.

Visitors this weekend will be able to take advantage of the annual Blue Mountain Turkey Tent Event, which features huge savings on ski and snowboard equipment, and on outerwear and other winter apparel. The event runs from October 10-14, 2013.

Vacay.ca Gets High at Scenic Caves

Just outside of the Blue Mountain resort is one of Ontario’s most outstanding attractions, the Scenic Caves Nature Adventures. Not only does it feature centuries-old artifacts of First Nations’ life, it has zip lines, a treetops adventure, and fantastic fall foliage viewing. Vacay.ca‘s Adrian Brijbassi recounted the story of how Scenic Caves became such a sensation in a recent article.

Brijbassi writes: “After enduring 30 years on Bay Street, you might just want to tie yourself to a rope and plummet full speed toward the ground. That’s exactly what Rob Thorburn chose to do after retiring from the financial industry in Toronto more than a decade ago. One of the first decisions Thorburn made after taking ownership of the Scenic Caves attraction in Ontario’s Georgian Bay region was to install a zip line.”
