vicky vacay deal of the day

50% off skiing in Kananaskis

travel-deal-march-18Travel Deal for March 18, 2013

Spring is just days away, but that doesn’t mean the snow in the Rocky Mountains is going anywhere.

In fact, the value of skiing late in the season makes heading up the hill when the temperature starts to rise all the more enticing. In Alberta’s beautiful Kananaskis country, you can enjoy a late-season package that includes 50% off your third night at the Delta Lodge as well as 50% off your skiing on your third day.

The deal sends you to Nakiska Mountain, the closest ski resort to Calgary, and gets you there without a pain in the wallet.

The package starts at $106 per person per night and includes:

  • Three nights of accommodation in a Delta Room
  • 50% off adult lift tickets on the third day of skiing

Vacay.ca Recommends Skiing Nakiska

When Vacay.ca Writer Karen Evenden visited Nakiska, she learned about its snow-making facilities, its variety of offerings, and its convenience in terms of location.

Evenden writes: “Nakiska is a Cree word that means ‘to meet.’ It was fitting that with snow barely starting to fall in some parts of Alberta, I, along with a group of 18 others, met at Nakiska in late November. One of the key advantages of skiing Nakiska is the proximity to accommodation in Kananaskis. The resort is a short drive from the village; in fact with a little enthusiasm you can even walk to the base.

“I usually begin the season with a warm-up on a green beginner run, then hop to blue intermediate trails, but a quick glance at the trail map showed that aside from the beginner area there are merely three short green trails at the resort, and they are only reachable by undertaking blue runs too. That’s an interesting twist, considering this is believed to be a beginner resort.”
