Dave Bolland of the Chicago Blackhawks brought the Stanley Cup home to Mimico, Ontario after the 2010-11 season and fan Harvey Brown, a loyal follower, couldn’t wait to get his hands on the silver. Harvey wins a travel prize for sharing his photo.

Just in case the NHL owners and players forgot what they’re supposed to be fighting over, follower and ardent hockey fan Harvey Brown presented us with a reminder recently.

He sent in the above photo that shows Chicago Blackhawks centre Dave Bolland sharing a few delightful moments with the residents of Mimico, Ontario. That’s Harvey with his hands on the coveted chalice while sharing a laugh with the NHLer. Bolland brought Lord Stanley’s namesake to his hometown following the Blackhawks’ monumental victory over the Vancouver Canucks in the 2011 NHL Finals.

With the NHL lockout finally over, Bolland has rejoined his teammates as they and the rest of the league prepares for the shortened 48-game season, which begins on Saturday, January 19. While the Blackhawks are one of the favourites in the Western Conference, along with the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, the New York Rangers are expected to win it all, according to oddsmakers.

At, we have a very different prediction. We think the Stanley Cup will be making the rounds in Ontario again come June, with the Ottawa Senators becoming the first Canadian team to capture a championship since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993. What’s your pick?

Harvey, meanwhile, gets to start celebrating early, as he scores a travel prize for having his shot chosen as this week’s Photo of the Week.
