Congratulations to Robin J. Elliott of BC!

The Coastal Mountains are in clear view from Gibsons, the main city on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast that sits on the Georgia Strait. Reader Robin J. Elliott recently took this photo during a getaway from Vancouver.

The Sunshine Coast is one of the most beautiful and least known areas of Canada. It’s most commonly accessed by BC Ferries service from Horseshoe Bay, which is about a 25-minute drive north of Vancouver on the Sea-to-Sky Highway. The setting for the CBC TV series “The Beachcombers,” which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, the Sunshine Coast is loaded with B&Bs, seafood restaurants and magnificent west coast scenery.

Robin J. Elliott of Vancouver recently made the trip for a relaxing getaway and took this splendid photograph of the coastline along the shores of the Georgia Strait in Gibsons, a town with a population of 4,200.

Robin says, “My wife, Rika, and I had the pleasure of staying three nights at the Waterfront Hideaway B&B in Gibsons — this was part of the beautiful view, changing every day with the weather. Lots of interesting water activity, a tranquil place where we could relax and read and enjoy nature. We were greeted on our arrival by three deer!”

For his photographic skill, Robin is a winner of the Vacay.ca Photo of the Week contest and will be receiving a travel prize!
