Travel Deal for October 1, 2013
Known as one of the best places in the Canadian Rockies to learn to ski, Nakiska Mountain Resort in Alberta is also often among the first mountains to open for winter sports each year.
In beautiful Kananaskis, Nakiska’s hills are within a short stroll from the village’s lodges, making it an even more family-friendly experience.

With the 3rd Night Free Package, kids under 12 years old ski free and each adult pays $190 total ($95 per night per person, with minimum two-night stay). The package includes:
- 3 nights’ accommodation for a family of four (based on two adults and two children under 12 years)
- 3-day adult lift ticket
- 3-day child’s lift ticket.
The offer is valid until December 20, 2013.
Vacay.ca Takes to the Slopes in Alberta
Vacay.ca‘s Karen Evenden tested out Naskika herself and was impressed both with the quality of its runs and the range of challenges the resort offers. Despite its reputation of being a great place to learn to handle the slopes, Nakiska is also home to some runs that will test any expert, she discovered.
Evenden writes: “One of the key advantages of skiing Nakiska is the proximity to accommodation in Kananaskis. The resort is a short drive from the village; in fact with a little enthusiasm you can even walk to the base. I usually begin the season with a warm-up on a green beginner run, then hop to blue intermediate trails, but a quick glance at the trail map showed that aside from the beginner area there are merely three short green trails at the resort, and they are only reachable by undertaking blue runs too. That’s an interesting twist, considering this is believed to be a beginner resort.”
