Vacay.ca Photo of the Week Winner
What could make a dip in the water on a scorching hot summer day even better?
Knowing you’re doing so on the best beach in the land. That’s where young Cecelia Potter is in this photo, submitted by her mother, Sara Fraser, of Hazelbrook, Prince Edward Island.
Like many others on PEI, Sara caught sight of the recent news that Singing Sands at Basin Head Provincial Park had been selected as the No. 1 Beach in Canada by Vacay.ca’s travel experts. She felt compelled to share this photo of Cecelia leaping off the wharf at Basin Head in the tiny town of Souris, 90 minutes east of Charlottetown. Sara calls her daughter “pretty darn brave” for making the 15-foot jump.
Sara’s photo that captures the joy and family fun of visiting Basin Head is a winner in the Vacay.ca Photo of the Week Contest. She will receive a prize from Magellan’s, one of the world’s leading travel supply companies.
Sara and Cecelia aren’t the only ones who have taken notice of Vacay.ca’s Top 10 Beaches in Canada ranking. Deb Sioen of PEI told CTV Atlantic News that she heard of the accolade for Singing Sands from the United States. “I was talking online with somebody from Tennessee and I mentioned what beach we were coming to today and they said back to me that it’s the number one beach in Canada,” she noted. You can see the video report from CTV on the Vacay.ca list here.

July 26, 2013 at 3:15 pmNice to finally see the recognition for the Singing Sands Beach! We at the Singing Sands Inn have been extolling its virtues to tourists reaching the Eastern part of PEI for over twenty years! But geographic clarification is in order; Basin Head is located 11 km east of Souris, in Kingsboro (and Souris may be small but it doesn’t deserve being called tiny!).
