This prize-winning photo of the waterfront at Okanagan Lake in Kelowna, BC was photographed last month by Vacay.ca reader Wendy Dewar Hughes, who captured the image on a sunny summer morning.
Canada’s leading wine region is also one of the most picturesque places in the country. The Okanagan Valley is known for its superb vintages, splendid scenery and outstanding lake views, including this one, which was photographed on July 21, 2012 by Wendy Dewar Hughes of Agassiz, British Columbia.

Of her image taken on the waterfront in Kelowna, Wendy writes: “A long, cold, wet spring in the Fraser Valley made us long for summer and sunshine. In July, my husband and I took our vacation and were on our way home from Saskatchewan where we had had more rain and chilly weather. We had planned on spending one night in Kelowna before heading home but the forecast for the next day was for hot and sunny weather so we decided to spend an extra day. In the morning we took a walk around the boardwalk along the waterfront and I shot this photo. The day could not have been more perfect. A light breeze to cool, sunshine to warm, beautiful scenery to view and a hand to hold.”
