Quebec-City

Photo of the Week — Congratulations, Ian MacKenzie!

Quebec-City

This sublime photo of Quebec City and the ferry from Levis was taken by Ian MacKenzie of Vancouver.

Ian MacKenzie of Vancouver took this shot of the St. Lawrence River and the lower city, or basse-ville, of Quebec City using a Canon PowerShot S80. The ferry, whose trail can be seen as a ripple in the water, shuttles commuters and tourists back and forth between Quebec City and Levis on the south side of the St. Lawrence. Quebec City, which was founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. It remains one of the best preserved fortified colonial cities in North America as well as one of the most romantic places in Canada. For his photography work, Ian wins a travel prize.
