Ever dream of a wonderful day on the lake fishing with people that you love?

Well, you can enjoy such an outing with the “family package” at BBJ Tackle and Fishing Adventures for $450 (two adults and two children maximum). This opportunity comes via Travel Alberta.

Your children will be given a rod and reel, and a tackle box of their own to take home. The fishing adventure package does not include a fishing licence, which you’ll need before you can legally fish in Alberta. Follow the online instructions to buy one. This organization is based just outside Edmonton, with trips taking place within a short drive of the city, in varying locations.

Package includes a lunch and snacks throughout the day, bait, equipment, beverages and photos of your trip so that you will have proof for your buddies that you really did catch that 50-foot, 340-pound brook trout.

Vacay.ca Recommends the Edmonton Corn Maze

The Edmonton Corn Maze, located 10 minutes southwest of the Alberta capital, is a 10-acre field with a number of cleared pathways that form a maze. Vacay.ca writer Karen Evenden had the chance to get lost in this tasty yet confusing puzzle last year and wrote about her experiences.

Evenden: “At the entrance to the maze there is a choice of ‘passports’ with a range of trivia questions designed to help you find the numbered checkpoints inside. Of course if you were so inclined, it’s possible to wander around without the aid of the passport, but having the target of finding the numbered signs in the correct order creates more of a challenge and promotes teamwork. We disregarded the ‘Animal Quizdom’ and ‘Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader?’ passports for ‘Where in the World …?’ (being travel enthusiasts) and we headed off to conquer the maze. The corn, which rises up to 10 feet, lasts for a period of six weeks until the cooler weather sets in. The Edmonton Corn Maze is open from early September until the third week in October and offers a day-time or night-time experience.”
