Travel Deal for March 16-17, 2013
One of Canada’s best-loved outdoor sports centres is also known as one of the nation’s finest party towns. On St. Patrick’s Day, few places in the country will be as fun as Whistler. The focus of much pouring of Guinness pints will be the Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub, attached to the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre Hotel.
Guests at the Pan Pacific will receive $100 dining credit to the Dubh Linn Gate, or one of seven other Whistler restaurants. Rates for the Dine Package for St. Patrick’s Day weekend begin at $429 per night and include:
- One night in a luxury suite featuring full kitchen, fireplace and balcony
- Complimentary daily Continental breakfast in the Pacific Bistro
- Complimentary wireless Internet and local calls
- Slope-side valet ski/golf/bike storage at Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside
The deal runs until December 31, 2013 and rates vary by season. The $100 dining credit can be used at either Dubh Linn Gate or one of these other restaurants in the village: Carumba, Hy’s, Trattoria di Umberto, Teppan Village, Sushi Village, Creekbread, or Araxi, which ranked 12th on the 2012 Vacay.ca Top 50 Restaurants in Canada Guide.
Vacay.ca Recommends Whistler for April Festival
St. Patrick’s Day festivities are only a prelude to the great fun coming up in Whistler in spring. The annual Whistler Ski & Snowboard Festival runs April 12-21 and features some of the hottest athletes on the slopes, as well as free daily concerts with musicians such as Rich Aucoin and K-Os. Vacay.ca West Coast Sports Editor Miguel Strother took in the 2012 fest and was sufficiently stoked for more.
Strother writes: “Attendees will no doubt crowd around the base of Whistler Mountain in the village’s Skier’s Plaza for the electrifying Big Air competition. That event will be charged with the bravado and aerial talents of a who’s who in the ski and snowboard world. These maniacs of winter go beyond big as they huck down eye-popping tricks for open-jawed onlookers enjoying a beverage below. It’s all part of an attempt to walk away with the coveted title of Big Air Champion and a fat cheque.”
