Travel Deal for January 15, 2013

vicky vacay deal of the dayIn winter, when Newfoundlanders say, “Go west,” they mean to Gros Morne National Park.

One of the most beautiful green spaces in Canada turns into a snowy showcase of fun, games and thrills each February. Snow West Fest features nightly entertainment, skiing on Marble Mountain, guided snowmobile tours, snowshoeing, ice sculptures, winter zip-lining, a wild new sport called snow-kiting and loads of laughter. This year, chef Steve Watson serves up Newfoundland & Labrador specialties as he headlines the culinary portion of the event.

This year, you can enjoy the best of Snow West Fest while staying in the luxury accommodations at Marble Mountain Resort. The property’s Snow West Fest kick-off package costs $349 per couple and includes:

  • One night’s accommodations in a one-bedroom suite with fireplace in the resort’s Marble Villa
  • 2 tickets to see Sherman Downey & the Silver Lining in the Knotty Pine Lounge as they kick off the festivities on January 31 (only those 19 years or older can attend)
  • 2 ski lift tickets (must be used on January 31 or February 1)
  • The offer is valid only for the night of January 31, 2013.

Snow West Fest runs from January 31 to February 3 and February 8-9, 2013. Follow Vacay.ca on Twitter (@VacayCanada) and Facebook for all of the action as our team members will be on site to provide coverage of this festive winter event.

Vacay.ca Showcases Gros Morne National Park

Vacay.ca contributor James Kessler visited Gros Morne last year and took some stunning images of his hikes around the park, as well as detailed his adventure.

Kessler writes: “I knew almost from the moment I first drove into the park that I really needed more days than I had allotted in order to explore the place properly. Somehow on the map Gros Morne looks smaller than it is, and it doesn’t really give an accurate picture of the dizzying array of environments found within the park.

While in the north, I prayed that the weather would behave for my last two days so that I could get in some good hiking before heading home. Luckily, it did.”

To find out what happened to James, read his article headlined: “Uphill, both ways, in Gros Morne National Park”
